The Watson Infirmary

Update: Discharged!

Our entire household has been sick for over 10 days. Beginning with our spunky Brooke, who had a 104-105 fever for 5 days last week, then passed it on to Kameron, Mimi, Erin, Mom, Dad and Papa, respective to seriousness (with Kam being the most serious)...

Kameron started with 102 on Thursday and held steady until Saturday when she spiked a fever of 104, seemed better Sunday, but took a nose dive Monday morning. Kyle took her into an emergency clinic, they confirmed pneumonia, and sent us over via ambulance to St. Luke's where we have been since.

She has tolerated all this very well until her IV fell out yesterday...three failed attempts to put it back in left my baby without a voice to cry :( But, thankfully, they found another nurse who could do it and the fourth try took :)

She was weaned off oxygen today and so far, so good!

Here are some pics...along with her eight (even though she's nine) months stats:

Stats:
Weight: 16 lbs and 4 oz (10-25%)
Length: 28 in (50-75%)
Head: 17 1/2 (50-75%)

I LOVE JESUS...

just thought I'd say that here in the safety of my blog.  I went running early this morning and we were having another gloriously beautiful day in Houston...as I ran, I was very tempted to yell out to everyone I passed, "JESUS LOVES YOU"...but I didn't...because, well, that would probably scare someone, especially since you don't usually speak at all, much less yell at someone about Jesus early in the morning on the jogging trails :)

Instead, I just praised and thanked God for His beautiful creation...you know, that is how God reveals Himself to us...through His Word and through His creation.

Love that.

Blow up fun :)

Rachel and I put the blow up slide up on Friday for playgroup...our kids had a lot of fun :)  Last summer we had to hoist our little ones up the ladder so they could slide down...this year, they climb up all by themselves :)!

After the slide, I got into the pool with all three of my girls...I didn't think I could do it, all by myself, but it was easier (and safer) than I thought :)  Erin is fully swimming! and Brooke really does respect the water and absolutely knows her limitations...so, she stays in the spa or on the steps without any persuasion...Kam stays in my arms :)

This is the last week of preschool for Erin and Brooke and I'm adjusting my perspective of the childcare free months ahead...I'm going to look at it as an adventure and implant as many memories into my sweet baby girls' heads as I can...sounds challenging, but I'm for it!

Erin so excited and happy to play...

Brooke in the pool part of the slide...before she realized she could climb the ladder :)

Oh, everything's right with the summer coming...

I'm the first one standing in line! It was a hot day and a perfect day to get in Mimi and Papa's pool...their pool is the best because the shallow end is wide and just the right depth. Erin, Brooke, Kameron, and their cousins swam the afternoon away. Erin really is a fish and showed her grandparents all her new skills...Brooke understands this year she shouldn't go in too far...and Kam isn't moving...looks like we're going to have an easier summer than we did last year :)

Erin floating on her back...she can do this for minutes at a time.

She LOVES the water...she constantly is doing flips and diving for rings...can't keep her above water :)

swimming...

Brooke likes to have a raft....

stays in it well...

Kam liked getting wet too!

splashing fun :)

This is who Kam and I take after :)

Checking it all out...

Enjoying watching her sisters and cousins swim...

won't be doing this for much longer...I'm enjoying her sitting contently while it lasts :)

TIERD-athlon....

WOW...what a ride!  It started early this morning, 4, but really started in February when Becky, Rachel and I started talking about doing the CB&I Triathlon.  After a couple months of training/juggling our children, schedules, and the 1 million other responsibilities, we went to dinner last night and talked about how we were ready, but nervous...

Kyle dropped us of at Northshore...we looked like the clown car at a circus...Mandy was in Tyler's car seat and Rachel was in Drew's...I was in between, Derek was in the back, and Becky got shotgun.  The five of us piled out around 6, got set up, and got in line with a 1000 other competitors. Rachel and I were in the 9th wave...so we got to watch and get just a little more nervous...

Getting in the water was fine...didn't even notice it was cold, dirty lake water....I did notice the 90 ladies in my wave though.  When the gun blew, I started to swim fast, too fast, and I think the anxiety, fast pace, and needing to breathe got me into a slight panic...not slight, huge.  I looked around for the canoe (the officials/first aid), but it was too far to flag down...so, I tried to relax, breast stroke, and wait till my breathing slowed so I could freestyle.  At the last leg, I literally swam up onto a lady who was from the heat in front of me (she was back stroking)...we both kind of laughed and I went on my way...

Got through the swim, the bike was easy, and then the run...I was TIRED...but, ran quick enough to finish 16th in my age division (yes, Rachel beat me...she finished 13th) :)

I'm so proud of Becky and Rachel...their discipline and perseverance is so admirable....and mostly I'm happy that we can say we did it and we did it together!!!
